The English language as it is spoken on this continent was stahtid
in the Boston area. Howevah, Bostonians are often treated like
foreignahs in ah own country when we travel outside the freindly
confines of Area Codes 617 and 508. How bizzah!
For example, take this vignette from the venerable Tom O., who tried to order a beverage at a Texas fast-food restaurant.
Clerk: "Would you like anything to drink with that?"
Tom: "Yes, I'll have a lahge ('large') Coke."
Clerk: "I'm sorry, sir... we only have Diet and regular."
