The Answer:
Ray Kroc, the entrepreneur who built McDonald's into an
international restaurant chain, issued the unwritten
directive to hire only "flat-chested, unattractive women"
in his restaurants.
Believe it or not, the rule was an improvement over his
previous policy. Kroc, a stickler for efficiency,
originally didn't allow any women to work in his
restaurants. He didn't want the presence of women to
disrupt his restaurants' militarylike efficiency.
